But unfortunately, we simply can't because they're spaced out over all the variety of different calls. This is, again, the year to date compared to the full years of last 23 and 24. But none of these categories is over the 23% rise we've seen so far in call volumes. So we're doing pretty well with it. Traffic stops are a little bit down. But again, this is talking about last year versus this year. Clearly, with the increase in call volume, the officers have less time to do proactive traffic stops. But they are definitely trying to do those as they can to effort some of our issues that come about because of traffic. 00:03:09.986 --> 00:03:37.406 - Could you ask one quick question on the previous slide? The vehicle thefts? Vehicle thefts. That's actually vehicles being stolen? Yes. Okay, I want to make sure that's correct. Those are the actual vehicles that we are reported stolen to us. So, for instance, if any metro has a car stolen that we recover, that does not show as a vehicle theft on our statistics. It's a vehicle theft for them. Training hours this month were 11.39 and a half. We had nine officers attend the department's annual three-day in-service. One officer attended read, interview, and interrogation course. One to Glock armors. Five to the law enforcement academy pre-basic training course. One officer completed a stops instructor course. That's traffic stops, teaching traffic stops. 00:05:01.090 --> 00:05:30.398 - One officer completed 24 hours advanced explosive breaching course, and then crisis negotiation team had 7.5 hours for each officer assigned, and K9 had three hours. Community events, there were 27, 63 engagement hours, 40 BPD personnel involved. I won't go over them all, but you can see a lot of the stuff that we did. The ones upcoming, touch a truck has already passed. It's already the 4th of July parades. The reserve at Chandler Glen was yesterday. I think that was fairly well attended, correct there. 00:05:31.074 --> 00:05:54.686 - And of course, our ongoing forever friends with the Humane Association. What is the bike index training? It's an effort by our CSSs to help people register their bikes because the common problem is that somebody will get their bike stolen and nobody remembers the serial number on their bike. 00:05:54.882 --> 00:06:24.222 - This gives us an index in a way of registering the bikes through the city so that we can look that information up for them. I remember everybody used to have to do that, but nobody did, as I recall. Yeah, this is an effort through our CSSs to kind of get people to do that. Thank you. Never survived the first time out in the rain. Yeah. 00:06:24.482 --> 00:06:54.078 - Police social workers were busy this month. They had 401 contacts, 114 referrals. They made some really good inroads this month with getting an elderly client taken to the hospital, finding a very ill in the apartment. They had two teen clients they'd been working a lot with, some emotions surrounding Father's Day, as both of their fathers had recently passed away. Some veteran service issues that came up that they dealt with. They had peer support for a neighboring agency that had a first responder suicide. 00:06:54.690 --> 00:07:24.478 - The outreach specialists continue to take the lead role, completing some housing assessments, and then providing assistance to those who need to complete Section 8 applications that are fairly lengthy and attended coordinated entry meetings. They also continue the street outreach downtown. Really, we're able to build it up with a couple of our long-term unhoused individuals. And hopefully, they're making some good inroads to getting those people to accept services, which has been a problem for them in the past. So this may be anecdotal, and I haven't reached out 00:07:24.610 --> 00:07:51.838 - But I'm hearing from friends on the east side that folks are being dismissed in the afternoon or late afternoon who then don't have transportation to get anywhere. And they end up, well, a couple of pastors on the east side have shared with me this concern. I can't speak to that directly. I'm engaged with those since that no longer falls in our jurisdictional area. It's IPD's jurisdictional area. They actually have their own department at the hospital. So it's in IPD? Well, it's Indian History Health. Indian History Health has their own police department. Oh. Who then, their first in backup. Oh. Yes. But it no longer falls in our primary area of operation because the hospital now sits on university property. But again, IU Health has their own statewide police department. We're currently in the process of ramping up a sworn only process for selections for new hires. I don't remember how many Captain Pettigrew said he's got in the process, 10 or 15. How many of those survived to get to where they're actually taking the test? We'll be able to update you on next month, but that's the ones that have at least expressed interest at this point. Other than that, not a whole lot of other general business to share with you just yet. 00:09:22.946 --> 00:09:49.822 - personnel issues, we talked a little about that hiring process, we've got 12 in the hiring room. 11 in FTO, five of them are waiting to go to the academy, six of them that are already certified are in FTO and they actually, everybody just moved to their next phase so they're progressing really nicely and we, I'm sorry, five of them 00:09:50.466 --> 00:10:12.478 - Our NFTO and the other certified is currently just finishing up some training for his certification and has a medical issue that we're dealing with, just an injury that'll heal up before he hits the road. They're helping out right now down in investigations with a couple of projects. Can't give you a really return to work date on those. Those are some injuries and some illnesses that have got a longer term healing period that we're just going to have to wait out with the officers as it goes. But they're actually, like I said, getting to do some stuff to help out in investigations. It's helping patrol on the other end. As far as purchase expenditures, you'll see a couple coming through. As you're well aware, everything we own is on a replacement cycle. It's the only way to keep from falling behind. So literally cars, firearms, less lethal munitions, even the dogs, they are on a replacement cycle. So when it comes around, they get replaced. Because otherwise, we fall behind and have to come back to council asking for more money. Clearly we would anyways, but a lot of people ask why every year, because it's mandated every year. So the officers get new vests and new hard armor every five years as mandated by the state. So we're at 3,073 for the year to date in June on track. So we're actually, if we compare it to June of 2024, we're a little bit down, like 11 runs. And then we had people taking vehicle technician course and surface water. So we had people who were out on the lake with Monroe fire in their boat and mobile integrated health care. With the state, they already went through all their month supply of the rear-facing car seats. We had a delivery of the Polaris Ranger. I mentioned that in a past meeting. That's part of a grant the MIH has secured for expansion of their services. So now they can use this Ranger for special events, and they can access people better with it. And it's a nice addition to their fleet.
