well ready to go on it. I am it really. You know, it's a lot of discussion on Facebook every once in
a while and it kind of dies down, so I hope the people and. So you live in the city limits and you live
in the city. So you know,
over at Bean Blossom, they had three meetings over there that said they wanted to keep Ellsville as
their primary or secondary backup for fire. And it was obvious, all three meetings, that we didn't want
the district. Not that they think this is the district, it's gonna be too expensive. Four days later,
after a third meeting, they voted in the district. Also, the district's going to Bean Blossom. Yeah,
yeah, and it'll be, it starts in,
27, Peggy, is that right? So our taxes will be increased. I'm not sure if next year's tax should be
increased or not. We're talking about our house, about $900 extra a year. By no way, yeah. Anyway, that's
just what the Richland people need to understand is Monroe County is gonna run over and it's not careful.
All right, Fall Festival Parade starts at 10 o'clock.
Saturday morning. I don't think we, are any of you involved in that parade? I have a kid walking in
there. Oh, do you? Well, good. You're involved in it. I'm not walking in it. You have a kid? Yeah. Y'all
still have kids? Yeah. So like I said, 10 o'clock and then of course the festival down to the fairgrounds
or the grounds get going about noon, so. Everything starts tomorrow, right? You said it starts really
tomorrow. About four o'clock tomorrow, yeah.
They've got a nice setup for entertainment down there, so. Do we need to approve the minutes? Ricky,
I'll have you talk about the marathon. Well, it's fine. You can't do this. OK. He might be running for
26 miles. I'm sorry. Just wondering. So you kind of have an idea. Can I approach the bench? You can't
really approach the bench. I always make out this checklist. So it starts, I guess, this way.
So it's like these are things that pre-race, and then here's day before the race, morning of the race,
during the race, and after the race. So all these things in red I've got done pre-race except for just
a couple items. Some of these things I don't have to do next year because once I make a sign stand,
for example, please don't park in people's things.
I'll have that signed for next year. I don't have to do that again. I did. So some of this stuff,
you know, once you get to the point where you've got things made, it becomes more balls in order process.
But that's just to give you an idea. There's a lot of stuff that you have to do to do this right. Right
now I've got 66 people.
But I just checked on my account for last year. Last year, after this date, from tomorrow on, 77 people
signed up. Because they always wait until the last week. I don't look to check in weather, or they just
procrastinate. So I'm thinking that if I have more than that, I'll probably have nine or so sign up.
So I'm looking at probably 150, 160, 170 people this year. Oh, really? Wow.
This is something I made up that I put around to all a bunch of businesses, the flyer, like the library,
and all that kind of thing. And then this is this year's color. First year was orange, then it was green,
then last year it was yellow, and this is approximation. I don't know exactly. When I talked to Cindy,
I told her, I said, hey, I'm sorry about it. I told people where to park, and it wasn't here.
But this year, in my description, I said, don't park in People's State Bank. And I told her I'm going
to make up a sign, which is about like that, about like that, with her photos posed. And I told her
that I'll also make up a sign saying, 5K parking for Ferrell Gas, to sort of direct them that way.
I mean, they know how to do that, but that'll sort of get the idea that, hey, you're really supposed
to come over here to the right. But I told her, I said, I can't guarantee that people won't park in there.
She said, oh, I understand that, but I just want to have enough spaces for people. I don't think it
really hands people getting in there. I understand. But I was pretty budged with everybody about the
conversation. So Ricky, real quick on parking. I emailed you and Jimmy about where the Village Inn was.
Oh, yeah. Right. Well, I all I'm trying to find out is who owns it. And if we could give permission
to people park there and also people can even park on Vine Street since it's a dead end. But there would
be we can get 50 60 cards in there. A good spot would be the Lutheran church.
I've called them repeatedly last year. They never return a call. I called them again this year. They
don't ever return my phone call. I don't know what the deal is. But that would be a really good place
because it's really close. They just walk in. Yeah. So I'll keep trying to see if I can get people to
park. I mean, Marcy J. Lewis isn't that far. I run way further than that to go to race. I'm not going
to say they're runners anyway. That's not. That shouldn't be a problem. Yeah. OK. But I do would like
to try to find out
where the old village and who owns it and see if we can get permission because I sent out email blasts
I sent my last one out there for yesterday to all participants who've done it the last three years telling
them hey every last reminder I've got 12 door prizes that I give out Bobcat gave me an ADCC
Leap blower this year. Oh, really? And then IJ gave me a $50 gift card. O'Reilly always gives me a bucket
with a whole bunch of dishwasher stuff in it. Starbucks is always really good. They gave me several
bags of coffee, a couple of those really nice coffee mugs that they put in there. Sip, what is it? It's
called Sip the Brewery. Oh, Sip's up here by Vendorship.
poker chips, which are free beer tokens. So I'll probably do those like two at a time. Maybe I should
give them all to one person. That would be nice. That's something I kept for the day there. Make sure
they're 21, too. And then I got JiffyTree always giving me gift certificates. And so I'm good on that.
I got no prizes. No one else really. No other race really. I know it does that. So I think that's kind
of a draw. And then I still have those mugs I give out where it says record breaker. And I have all
the records.
on the website, here's the records for all the age groups overall, so people do try to do that. And
I had a pasting chart signed up, I had the record signed up, I had the Bell Station set up, so I try
to make it really something that's really nice. I'm gonna put together a book that says, here's who
you call for the Portico Potties, there's a number, here's a contact person, here's who you call for
your overall awards,
Kelly Slankard there at the award center. So that way, if you said something one time about maybe taking
this over at some point, or whoever, it'll be kind of like, I'm trying to get to the point where it's
like dummy proof. Here's the pages, just do what it says, and you're good to go. We appreciate that.
So HB Timing is going to do chip timing this year. So if he tells me what he says, as soon as you cross
the finish line, he's supposed to have some kind of thing posted up.
on a screen where you can walk over and you can see where you finished in your A group. Because my idea
is to try to get those results out. I can pass out. So this is a new timing system. You've been telling
us about that. Yeah. Before it was, you had to look at your bid, and he was running a bid. Yeah. This
is all computerized now. Yeah, but this is through a chip, and it automatically prints. All right. So
that way, I'll probably get to the results sooner, because I'm trying to get it so that people don't
have to stand around. I don't want to do the door prizes until people are done walking.
Yeah. You know, so the runners kind of have to hang around a little while. Where do you do the awards?
I do that right after the... Where at? Right there. Okay. The finish line. Okay. I have everything all
set up. So I'm giving three places this year. I was going to give it two before. I'm giving three this
time. So I'm trying to like figure out ways. This guy says he has a speaker system.
The last two years, I was supposed to have a speaker system there, but it never worked for some reason.
There was always an issue. I never could get that, but now he tells me he's got that. Do we not have
something? Yeah, we do. They're big units, and I had a little lesson on how to operate it about a year
ago. If you think I'm going to remember that,
If somebody could come and help me, we do have those speaker things. The park board has a thing for
the... But the only problem is you have to have power to plug in. Right, you have to have power. We
can try to get Bobcat to let us do it. Well, I was going to ask them. I looked at the other little building
except for the cellar. So I was looking around that building. I said, well, are there any plug-ins around?
I didn't see anything. Maybe inside. We could probably get something from inside. Yeah, in there or
something. That'll work. So that's pretty much
I think all about the race. I can't take it. You said you're going to have this officer there at the
corner. Yes. And you're going to start the race. Right. What's our time frame? What time are we going
to start the race? Well, the kids run is at 8. You don't have to do that. OK. 8.30. 8.30 is when you
want me there. OK. And then there's plenty of refreshments.
Last year, the extras, I took them to the police station. The department one year, I took a bunch of
stuff there that people don't eat. But I think last year, they all kind of ate everything up. They didn't
realize it was going to happen. It's hard to judge when you've got 155 people, like, OK, how much food
do I buy? I don't want to buy too much stuff. I wish I'd left over. But then I don't want people complaining,
like, I didn't get my banana.
So then one of the things, I've got this flyer. I haven't set it out yet to Denise to post, haven't
put it anywhere yet, but this is kind of what it looks like. Remember on the 14th, I'm having, what's
her name? God, I'm gonna have a senior moment. Oh, Erin McCormick, she's a fitness trainer. She's lost
after the Y, but she kind of works independent, and then a retired physical therapist guy.
that I golf with who will do sports injuries and she'll do stuff about fitness in the heritage building.
I already reserved it for 9.30 to 10, 10 to 11 on Saturday. I'll bring like more fruit cups and

but as that date, it's too early to get this stuff out now, but about a month beforehand, I'll start
trying to get the word out for this. Okay. I don't know, I'd start getting that out. You think so? Yes,
sir. Okay. I would start getting that information out. So, I got that, and then I'll try to think of
something else that maybe I can do just to take a whole lot of it. Right now, the only thing about the race,
is volunteers. I mean, there's me and my son. Okay, Ron said he'd help. My wife. Noelle said she'd help.
Okay, good. Now, my wife always helps. And then my neighbor and a mutual friend of ours helps with that.
But my grandson has an event that day that I don't know if my wife... I'm getting pulled away from. ...if
my event or not. If she does, I'll be fine. If she doesn't, I think I'll still be okay.
You make it there and I'll have you go down and I think you might be at a turnaround. I at least want
to have somebody at the turnaround for the one mile and then at the 5K. Other stuff I do is like just
putting stuff together there that the morning of that I need somebody helping me with that. And then
when people come, I try to get people to come the night before to pick up their stuff.
Not a whole lot of people do that. So everyone wants to come and pick their stuff up there. That's where
the chaos is. So that's where I really need one or two people helping out. The night before? No,
the day, the morning, or the rights. I can have my house. So if you come, you try to be there by 730
if you can, because that's when they start coming. They got this window between 730 to 8 to sign up
if they want. But AV timing will handle that. They'll get the late company. But it's the people who've
already registered, but they did pick up their shirt and their bib.
I'll try to have them in packets so that they come up and say, Paula Jones, oh, Paula Jones, put that
gift here and you're good. Wouldn't you hand out shirts to the people that are coming? Well, when they
pick up their stuff. OK. That's just before the race, is what you're saying. I thought I had them in
little baggies, little packs. I pulled them up. That was a lot of effort. Pulled up a shirt, put it
in there with a couple of pins. But that was the clearest.
you just go to their bin, their name, pull it out, here you are. If you don't do that, then you have
the stack of shirts, like smalls, mediums, large, extra larges, and a box of pins, and then the vids
that you have here in numerical order, and when they come, oh, your vid number's 289, you go through
there, you pick out 289, then they gotta pick their shirt out. It's not quite as fast. If you've got
a few people before the race, that's okay, but if you've got like 50 people there,
And there's always that few that want to come in like five minutes before the race and then want to
get in the race. There's one guy who does this every year. I know his name is Pip and he's an older
guy and he comes and he has a check and he wants to come, he wants to get in the race and he wants to
throw the check down and he's like, what? You gotta get your sign in?
So I'm ready for him. I know he's coming now. So it's just a little stuff like that. OK. Now, actually,
if you can come up with the ideas of other stuff, like this fitness clinic kind of thing or whatever,
let me know. But it's going to be something that doesn't take a whole lot of manpower. I've got a couple
ideas as to stuff that I'm trying to get done. So that's that.
