I'm gonna call to order this work session meeting for the Monroe County Board of Commissioners. It's Thursday, October 2nd. It appears we have one item, but we have one item on our agenda. We'll start there. No, it's you. And if we have others, other staff members with items, we'll hear those as well after. But go ahead, Parks and Rec, Ms. Whitmer, director. Excellent. Welcome. Or me, welcome. Welcome to you. I'm asking you to do three items today. to approve and then to ratify them on October 9th, 2025. We have two change orders, one for electrical wire and spoils pile grading, as known as the big dirt pile that needs to be feathered out, ADA route put on and then the excess soil will go West of Carson Farm Park, I've already talked to Lisa Ridge, we're working with Stormwater and our engineer and everything will be okay for that. That's $93,238.87 that extra funds for overruns were already approved by the park board on March 26, 2025. We have another change order for additional compost for fields six and seven to go under the sod. This is $7,600. This is a timing issue. because the sod is going down at any moment. And the soil chemistry is here and we need it to be here. And it is not wise not to do it if you're putting sod down. So I'll explain to the park board. They'll be completely fine with it. The other one is a substantial completion date. Move it from October 1st, 2025 to December 31st, 2025. Since today is the second, we have missed that date. And most of this is due to early rains. Yeah. Terrible weather. So that is where we're at. And also Justin Rade, he went to one of our meetings with us to come up with a compromise with the vendor and the soil and the compost and all that. And we believe $7,600 is a fair compromise to all parties involved. OK. Well, go ahead. Do you have comments or questions? No, I think that this is a, um, comprehensible explanation and everything makes sense to me. Um, especially, uh, how much it costs to move a big dirt pile. So. Yeah. And I don't know if you've been at the park, you, if you can see it, you go, oh my goodness, that's a mountain. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so when this dirt gets moved, it's accessible for, county use? Oh, it's yours. It's all your property. It's being moved from your property to your property, your other property. You can do, but you know, we'll have to stabilize it and do all the grades like stormwater, but you're more than welcome to do anything you want with your own dirt pot. All right. I might have an idea. All right. So what is, what is the, is it, is the, I know you kind of always put on a contract beyond where you really think it is. If you go out to Cars from Park right now, you'll see Field 9 has synthetic turf down. You can see it. And you can see AstroTurf staff right now preparing the other two fields for the carpet. The lights are up. Graber Post probably is finishing their building, our very small building, that they're building us this week. They're waiting until everything's kind of gets done, and then they're going to do the parking lot on their way out, field six and seven. Sod's going to go down next week. And the only staff who we've had is Duke Energy. We've been working with them for over a year and a half. And they're working. and they're finding us transformers and doing all the things that Luke does. God bless them. And we have to have temporary power set up because We don't have power right now to water the sod. So they have to set us up temporary power. That's where everyone's going. Because we have to water the sod every 12 hours. I mean, we want to do everything we can to keep that sod going. Back to your question, once the carpet goes, it takes two weeks per field. So all the way through October to get the other two fields. It'll look a lot better in November. So I mean, I don't know when the grand opening is going to be, but we want everything out there so you can see it. Yeah. Yeah. And to be able to walk on it. And I mean, it's not just to see it, but you want to be able to come out and invite the public. I mean, the concrete's done. The shade shelters are up. It's awesome. November-ish, back to December. Yeah. I hear you. I hear you. It doesn't feel like I've ever because the weather doesn't feel like I'm there. So I totally get that. OK. So. They need to do Jeff. They need to create a. Change order, but I don't have. Oh, it's I can. I want my packet. Yes. Please, I need fund numbers and yada, yada, yada. Thank you. I didn't realize you wanted us to. Well, I don't know what you do. Is that? Oh, we do the magic. Do you need the chain workers? They actually have everything matches? We're good. I'll trust you on that. It's all parts. Got it. I would just say that if you wish, This is part of a continuing project. And so typically when you approve things about a continuing project, it doesn't have to come back for a following meeting. But if you wanted it to, it could. And I guess I have one question. If I wanted to kick a soccer ball on a turf field, when would be my first opportunity to do that? After we open. After we open. Like everyone else. Like everyone else. Although you can play in the big dirt pile whenever you want. But if you would like to come out for an early tour, you're more than welcome. It's fantastic. I think everyone's going to be very pleased. Awesome. I was going in every so often just to see how things were, and I haven't been in a long time, so I need to go back. And I know, especially for your concern, I observed them putting the Brockfield infill in the other day on the field, which takes the place of crumb rubber. We will not have crumb rubber on those fields. And it's like this big thing, and it's almost like throwing out seeds. It's wonderful. I think everyone's going to be very pleased and very safe to play on the fields. Excellent. All right. I'm going to go ahead and make a motion to approve CARS athletic complex change orders. for Reed and Sons construction contract number one change order number seven at $93,238.87 contract number one change order number eight $7,600 and thirdly to change the substantial completion date to December 31st 2025. These amounts come from County general fund 1000 and funds 1178 and 1179 parks non reverting. I second that motion. All right. We have a motion and we have a second. Any public comment on this item or anything else you want to add? No, I'm just surprised that Jeff didn't add the proper time was when all the waivers are signed. We have to be fully insured. And I do say we're no gooey items on the carpet. So the taffy stand is closed. The what? Taffy stand. Yes, saltwater taffy stand. All right. Okay. Seeing no public comment. All in favor of approving the car side athletic complex change orders for contract 178 change order seven change order eight and the completion date change signified by saying I. I motion carries to zero. I need to come back. Nope. Nope. Okay. I will give this back to you though. If you need it. Are we good? Are we good? Excellent. All right, with that at the 11th hour, we are adjourned.
