But if you received Sophia Travis funds in 2024, your spending 00:17:22.263 --> 00:17:26.846 - report is due on March 31st, so in two weeks basically, 00:17:27.074 --> 00:17:37.335 - of this year. And so the spending report is required to continue to be eligible to apply for Sophia 00:17:37.335 --> 00:17:46.878 - Travis grant funds. Additionally, the projects must primarily serve Monroe County residents. 00:17:47.778 --> 00:17:54.896 - the extents to which the dollar amount sought will accomplish the stated goals of the project, and the 00:17:54.896 --> 00:18:02.083 - extent to which the funds sought will leverage additional funds or assistance. These are all the things 00:18:02.083 --> 00:18:09.063 - that the committee members are going to be looking at when they consider your application for Sophia 00:18:09.063 --> 00:18:16.734 - Travis funding. The areas for support, we have eight included in Sophia Travis. That starts with health, food, 00:18:16.930 --> 00:18:26.544 - nutrition, security, and shelter, transportation assistance, climate change, emergency shortages, first 00:18:26.544 --> 00:18:36.343 - responders, veterans assistance, excellence in government, and youth enrichment opportunities. And Sophia 00:18:36.343 --> 00:18:41.982 - Travis being a dynamic program, we learn lessons every year. 00:18:42.210 --> 00:18:49.475 - and refine it moving forward. As such, here are a few clarifications for the future. First, using Sophia 00:18:49.475 --> 00:18:56.393 - Travis Community Services grant funds to create subgrants is prohibited. Next, the state of Indiana 00:18:56.393 --> 00:19:03.312 - does not permit Sophia Travis grant funding to be used to subsidize a county department. Therefore, 00:19:03.312 --> 00:19:10.645 - a collaborative grant application with a county department partner is not allowed. And third, if a Sophia 00:19:10.645 --> 00:19:11.614 - Travis is so, 00:19:11.746 --> 00:19:22.553 - big pardon, if a Sophia Travis Community Services Grant awardee does not sign the award agreement by 00:19:22.553 --> 00:19:33.252 - Friday, October 30th of this year, 2026, they forfeit their award. And now we come to collaborative 00:19:33.252 --> 00:19:34.750 - applications. 00:19:35.266 --> 00:19:41.092 - In more recent years, with hopes of better leveraging Sophia Travis grant funds, the committee has added 00:19:41.092 --> 00:19:46.752 - the opportunity for collaborative grants among local nonprofits. The committee encourages agencies to 00:19:46.752 --> 00:19:52.301 - continue working together toward common goals.
